The true history of beef burgers (or hamburgers) is clouded by
history and controversy.
During the medieval times the tartars, a band of warriors from the plains of central Asia, would place pieces of beef under their saddles while they rode.
This would tenderize the beef before warriors devoured them-- raw! The beef tartare was actually named after this popular meat delicacy in modern times.
In the 19th century the German immigrants brought a dish called Hamburg Style Beef to the United States. Prior to being introduced to America, this Hamburg Style Beef apparently made its way to the seaport of Hamburg, Germany from its motherland, Russia. This is the actual chopped meat believed to be the primitive ancestor of the modern-day hamburger.
The good news for Americans today is that burgers are available just about anywhere (although all-natural Black Angus burger meat is what we prefer).
At Southern Grocery Company our beef patties are delectable and juicy because they're flash-frozen and vacuum-sealed to lock in all the flavor. In fact... our burgers are so good that you might just have to host a dinner party as an excuse to some great grill grub.
